Michael Barer is counsel in the New York office of Haug Partners, where his practice focuses on Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings and federal litigation in the areas of trademark, unfair competition, copyright, and trade secret law. Michael’s strong litigation background helps bring unique experience to Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings where Michael represents some of the most famous companies in the world.
Michael manages complex intellectual property proceedings spanning numerous industries, including the luxury good, fashion and financial technology sectors, among others. From multinational companies to individuals, Michael develops strategies in front of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board to maximize brand protection and value, enforcing and expanding intellectual property rights. Michael takes the time to understand client goals and tailors his approach in adversarial proceedings to each unique circumstance.
Michael also has significant experience litigating intellectual property matters in Federal Courts, including infringement actions, right of publicity and defamation lawsuits.
Michael graduated from Hofstra Law School where he served as a senior editor for the Journal of International Business and Law. Prior to joining the firm, Michael was an associate at an international law firm where he represented clients in trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation.
