Haug Partners is pleased to announce a complete victory for its clients in trade secret litigation. At the summary judgment stage, the District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed all alleged violations of the Defend Trade Secrets Act, as well as the breach of contract and business tort claims in favor of our clients. Our clients are Candi Carter—whom the Court recognized as a “decades-long veteran of the media industry”—along with Ms. Carter’s company Cistus Media Inc. and Ana Pitcher, a part-owner of Cistus Media Inc.
The Court noted that in this case, there was no basis to conclude that any of our clients misappropriated any trade secrets, breached any contracts, or committed any torts. Among other things, the Court recognized that the Plaintiff’s alleged “web of circumstantial evidence” merely amounted to “conclusory speculation, only a handful of disconnected threads.” We’re proud to share this result with our clients and congratulate the team on another outstanding outcome.
